Viva l'Artropy!

Well, I've been away for awhile because I've been hard at work making all sorts of little pretty things for tomorrow's Artropy show (sponsored by Show-me Etsy).

Wish me luck!

Well, pooh on you

Just finished my first Doggie pooh bag holder. Well, technically it's my second. The first one was made for our dogs out of some old scrap fabric and is pretty sad. So I won't be uploading any photos of that one.

However, the new and improved version is below. I'm pretty happy with it. It holds about 5 or 6 plastic grocery bags, and has a cute little applique on the front of a dog house. The applique is made from recycled felted sweaters. Each bag is fully lined, with a button attachment on the back of the loop so you can place it on your leash. The top and bottom are elastic, so that you can put bags in and pull them out easily.

Keeping your neighborhood clean, one pooh bag at a time.

Sweet sunshine

I awoke today to see the sun shining! This has been such a rare event lately that I'm leaving my little craft lab to take advantage of it and get some much needed vitamin D! I'll be setting up my satellite lab.....in the garden.

Overcast inspiration

With all of this gloomy weather we've been having, I've found it hard to work on projects. So, where does a Jelly Girl go for inspiration? To France, of course! I love browsing through French blogs, and some of my favorites are listed here on my site. These beautiful photos above are from Reves d'argile. She makes the most amazing ceramic pieces! Her site also has highlights of her own decor and french finds. I'm inspired to break out some of these old ceramic molds we have in the garage!Happiness.....what we all want! Celestine Boutons has great ideas for decor and her photos are just as beautiful!
And finally.....wedding inspiration!!! I LOVE this car! I've always called them 'Snoopy' cars because that's what the Peanuts are in when they go to France for Linus' spelling bee. If I could find a car like this for my wedding in October I would squeal like a little girl! Hmmmmm.......better start looking! Photo courtesy of Coeur en Provence.

Props

I have to take some time to give props to some friends for a big art project they've undertaken. Lauren and Jake live in our building in Benton Park West, and we couldn't ask for better renters. Not only are they great renters, but they're also cool.

Lauren, who is an art professor at Washington University has spearheaded this amazing flag project where students/artists submit a project on a temporary basis. If accepted, each artist will display their work (flag) in front of the building on Arsenal (exterior exibit space) for a month or so. Not only is this a fantastic idea for promoting emerging artists and spurring creativity, but also for spurring growth in Benton Park West. We LOVE the city, and anything done to help improve and promote city living is a big plus on my score sheet!!!!

Please be sure to visit their facebook site and become a fan!!!!

Sticks and stones

I'm busy working on uploading more photos to Etsy today. Who would've thought that taking pictures would be such a job?

I wanted to post these really cute little 'French' rocks that I've been working on. I got the idea from a website that I've since lost. I just think they're so cute! They look great on the saucer in the photo, and could sit on a side table. Or, maybe I'll put some in my garden.

I guess I should make some with English words since visitors from my latest craft show didn't seem to appreciate the french touch. (sigh) Why can't everyone love all things French the way I do? Yet another reason to save for that summer home in France!

Magical Mystery Tour

I recently re-organized the Laboratory, aka craft lab, and thought I would show you!

My hubby-to-be, Mr. P., is very relieved. He's a bit more of a clean-freak-super-organizer than I am and he never really understood how I could work in such chaos. Ah, but from chaos comes order young grasshopper.

Please do admire my Necchi. It's one of my favorite sewing machines and can sew through 4 layers of leather at a time without a cough. I have two of them, but one is out sick right now with some 'reverse' issues. If you have the opportunity to find/buy one of these beauties, you won't be sorry! I found one on ebay and the other on craigslist. One was cheap, the other one wasn't.

Renegade love

Thanks to blogger Pretty Silly Things, I found out about the Renegade Craft show and I REALLY WANT TO DO THIS!!!!

They have 4 locations for the fair in Brooklyn, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and CHICAGO! Sadly, I won't be able to apply to this fair this year because of the wedding, but I will definitely plan for it next year!! What a cool group event for Showme etsy (if I get accepted!)????

It really suits you

Just wanted to make a brief post to show off my latest and greatest. I had hoped to have these done for the Green with Indie show, but I was just overwhelmed with everything else. But, now that I have some more free time (and reorganized my craft lab) I've been able to start sewing again! Yay!
So, this is the first of several purses I hope to make. It's made from recycled men's suits and is reinforced with VERY stiff interfacing which gives it a great shape.
